The BMS Project

HOW FUNDS ARE USED

The BMS Project, Inc. (“TBPI”) is an approved 501(c)(3) Missouri Nonprofit corporation. TBPI is currently solely self-funded, but anticipates seeking future funding from two additional outside sources:   1) Grants and 2) Donations.  At the end of each fiscal year financial statements will be posted on this site, as available.

TBPI provides first-step mental health educational and advisory services to young people and families engaged in competitive activities — including sports — participation.  Our services are intended to promote mental health awareness and contribute to suicide prevention both on a grass roots local level, as well as to provide services to a national footprint.  Our services also include development of programs and tools to assist in the creation of positive environments for young people to participate and compete in, as well as addressing mental health financial education, advice and, pending securing adequate funding, direct financial assistance for needed mental health care.

Contingent upon securing future funding sources, collected funds will be utilized in the following ways.  100% of funds raised from self-funding events will be placed in a pool and distributed to financially distressed athletes and families seeking mental healthcare.  Other sources of funding will be utilized as described below:

  • Pursuit of the Quest to Fulfill Our  Mission:
    • Creation of programs and materials for use to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention for young athletes and competitors in conjunction with Partners and Affiliates (youth sports leagues, clubs, institutions and organizations, etc.) committed to contributing the mental health well being of young people engaged in competitive endeavors.
    • Creation of programs and materials for use to pursue our mission with Advocates (Parents, Coaches, Mentors and Officials).
    • Creation of programs and materials for use to pursue our mission with Professional Mental Health Service providers (Mental health counselors, school counselors, first responders, mental health doctors, nurses, staff and administrators, etc.).
  • To Pay for Operating Costs:
      • To cover future Board approved organization overhead to include staff payroll, rent, insurance and administrative costs; including supplies, telephone and printing costs. At this time all funds received by The BMS Project.org are used to provide services to our users. No monies being received at this time are being used to cover overhead costs.
  • To Pay for Support Professional Services Fees:
      • Legal, Accounting, Website and IT Services
